Haydn, 4 Site

“Taff was instrumental in transitioning 4Site from 2D documentation into using BIM to not only document, but to provide value to our clients by coordinating process equipment and building services in 3D.

An example of this value is the Stanhope Cheese plant that was built for Fonterra. This project had extremely tight timelines and required documentation to happen while construction was going on. Taff oversaw managing the architectural, structural, and civil parts of the documentation, as well as coordinating with our building services sub-consultants. Our systems allow the town planning drawings to be turned around and lodged in an extremely short amount of time, while the structural engineers were working on those drawings – ready for permit issue as soon as the Planning Permit was issued. The project involved work in multiple buildings on the site, with pipe racks to route services and pipe racks around the site. Throughout the life of the project 4Site combined our building models with building services models, process models by Tetrapak, and Infrastructure and Utilities models by Aurecon to ensure everything was co-ordinated prior to construction. We conducted model reviews with the client weekly, which allowed swift HAZOP’s. Everything picked up in these reviews allowed changes to be made on the drawings, which was an important factor in keeping to the project timeline. Taff also rendered the amenities and hygienic change areas, and we were able to walk the Fonterra through the process and get their tick of approval. To create, deploy and document the BIM across 3 disciplines for a project of this scale was impressive to say the least.

As an office, the introduction to Revit and BIM was made relatively straight forward, and the return on investment has paid significant dividends with our clients and design partners, as well as with the builders. It is common for both the builders and process installers to walk around site with an iPad and the model, which also minimises time spent answering RFI’s, as they can find the answers in the model. 4Site can now compete with Tier 1 companies in the food and beverage space, all because of the systems Taff put in place.”

Ivan, Meinhardt Group

“Nathan (BIMiT) was contracted by Meinhardt Group as a Senior Structural BIM Modeller (Nathan used to be the Structural team leader BIM and came highly recommended after leaving in 2015) for a contract period of approximately 6 months between March and August of 2020.

In this time, Nathan worked directly with myself and our national structural engineering team which oversaw the collaborative design development and deployment of several projects under his tenure.

During this period Nathan, like many others, completed his project work remotely which we found to be a smooth process, handled very professionally as noted by several members within the design team. Nathan was also given the trust and autonomy to act as lead modeller across several significant projects which included assisting engineers with documentation requests, solving technical issues and acting as a point of resource for modellers who were tasked to work under him.

I personally found Nathan a pleasure to work with, as it is very reassuring to be able to leave project work to an experienced operator and have the confidence in his technical ability to carry major projects forward with the same high expectations I would expect from team leaders or myself. Nathan could only be a tremendous asset to any organisation willing to retain his services, and I very much look forward to the possibility of working together again in future.”
