Auckland Air Traffic Control Facility
Client: NZ Strong
PV: $11.5m
Involvement: BIM – Seismic LoD400
This IL4 project, was unique in that it housed a very heavily serviced data room. The congestion of services directly overhead the servers provided a unique seismic challenge. The end solution was integrated support for the ceiling and all services both over and under the ceiling. The seismic BIM model was also fully documented where both the 3D and 2D information was derived from hand sketches from the engineers.
Owing to the complexity of the installation, significant coordination using Navisworks and clash detection with stake holders was used to provide certainty to the client and building owner. Nathan lead the project as seismic designer, and established the Revit templates, families, and documentation standards for the project. Nathan also attended the coordination workshops led by Construction Workshop.
